This Week in the Garden: The Calm Before the Storm

It may be mid autumn, but last weekend and early this week in the (brief!) calm between the dregs of ex-Cyclone Debbie and the now imminent arrival of ex-Cyclone Cook might have been the nicest weather we've had all year. Warm, sunny, and all around love weather for enjoying the outdoors and catching up on fair-weather chores. So much laundry, so little sunshine time! :) Everything is looking great in the garden (although now once again very soggy) after a good clean-up and weeding, even though autumn is definitely setting in. We shall see what the inbound wild weather has to say about that...hopefully nothing too nasty. Right now, it's wet but still...the calm before the storm.  What's happening in and around your garden this week?  Whatever your garden/green news, we would love to hear about it. Please leave a comment or post us a message on the GiRL Facebook page I look forward to sharing our garden with you as it grows.  This week's Garden Week post is a day earlier than our usual Friday share, ahead of the Easter holiday weekend. If you're looking for a few green(er) Easter ideas, check out our holiday board on Pinterest. Have a lovely weekend!

  1. What are the beautiful pink flowers in the first picture?

    1. Hi there! Those are windflowers (Japanese anemones) and they are lovely, aren't they? They can look a little straggly sometimes, but in their prime in a mass plantings they're often absolutely spectacular.

Thanks ever so much for leaving us a comment! We read every one and appreciate you taking the time to say hello and share your thoughts.
