This Week in the Garden: Checking in on the Winter Veggie Patch

It has been a mish-mash week, with more frost, sun, icy rain, wild wind, thunder, and even a bit of hail. Despite the recent chill, the early bulbs are already coming into flower and the magnolias have started to bloom around the neighbourhood. Magnificent! I ventured out with my camera in a sunny spell earlier this week and snapped a few photos of our lush winter veggie garden to share with you this week. The beetroot plants are growing strong and the beets are starting to thicken up nicely beneath their pretty greens.  My experimental celery stem-replants (will share a post in the future) are thriving, a little digging around the onion, carrot, and parsnip shows things are looking promising for upcoming snacks. Our lemons are ripe and ready - perhaps a taste test this weekend. Yum! What's happening in and around your garden this week?  Whatever your garden/green news, we would love to hear about it. Please leave a comment or post us a message on the GiRL Facebook page I look forward to sharing our garden with you as it grows.
