This Week in the Garden: Earth Day and Every Day

On Earth Day, I am spending some time reflecting on how fortunate I am to live somewhere so green and lush, where I am routinely fluttered by monarch butterflies and buzzed by big bumbling bees whilst in the garden and I can grow edibles and flowers all year round.  Having moved around quite a bit, I know that these are definitely not things to be taken for granted, but sometimes it takes a special day to prompt us to be a bit more mindful everyday. I'll be sharing an earth month after April ends (have you seen Chalkboard magazine's weekly challenge?), but my Earth Day pledge is to try and be more mindful everyday about what we have and the need to protect it.

What's happening in and around your garden this week?  Whatever your garden/green news, we would love to hear about it. Doing anything special for Earth Day? Please leave a comment or post us a message on the GiRL Facebook page For those of you in our part of the world, please take some time this ANZAC Day weekend to remember those who have scarified much - there are free poppy pictures in yesterday's post if you would like to use them for your pages or profiles, and this is a great time for year for  planting your own poppy seeds (or taking some rosemary cuttings).  On the subject of rosemary, we teamed up with Creativity Unmasked earlier this week to show you how to make a rosemary wreath if your keen for a little bit of DIY.  Head to Creativity Unmasked for the full step-by-step details of how to make your own rosemary wreath.
