Autumn Gardening

Nature Quote - Autumn Leaf Tree - Emily Bronte

The things that I love in life, like food, family, travel, pets, and (of course) blogging all carry their own separate degrees of environmental impacts. While we are trying to live greener, we are conscious that the lifestyle we enjoy still carries a significant footprint. One of the ways that we are working towards offsetting that (albeit slightly) is to nurture and expand our garden. The project is already well underway after spending the summer growing season with bees and butterflies enjoying our blanket of nitrogen-fixing plants that have just been tilled back into the beds to compost into the previously spent soil and enrich it for planting. It is a small contribution, but everyone's little changes and choices all add up!

I will be sharing more about our garden here on the new blog as things progress, but we are already blessed with some existing trees of various maturity that will be the anchor plants in our little home garden carbon offset. As autumn slips into winter and the last of the leaves fall from our deciduous trees, I thought that I would share a few quick snaps of the fall beautiful colours.

Do you create or buy carbon offsets? We'd love to hear from you and learn from your experiences and ideas. Share your successes (and speedbumps!) with us an our readers any time here in the comments or on our Facebook page. If you have your own greener living blog or site, you're welcome to share a live link tin the comments. It's simple - just use the following format as a guide: text you want shown for your link
